Body recovered from Smithville Lake Tuesday

SMITHVILLE, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a body and a vehicle were recovered from Smithville Lake Tuesday.

According to MSHP Troop A Corporal Justin Ewing, MSHP's Dive Team was called in by the Platte County Sheriff's Office.

The Team arrived on scene at 10 a.m. and completed the recovery around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

"It's pretty common for our Dive Team to be called in for situations like this all across the state...we're always, in the sequence of events, as far as investigations unfold, we're honestly usually the last ones to be notified, because we're requested after the investigation's been done," Ewing said.

The incident is currently being investigated by the Platte County Sheriff's Office and is ongoing.
