ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Betty Kresin, Eminem's maternal grandmother, passed away at the age of 87 from breast cancer complications on Wednesday, March 11, at her home in Missouri, according to reports from TMZ.

TMZ was the first to report the story and said that Eminem was not with his grandmother when she passed.

Betty was the mother of Eminem's mom, Debbie, who died of lung cancer in 2024.

During an interview with the UK-based outlet The Mirror, Kresin shamed Slim Shady over how he treated her and his mother.

"Neither his mother, Debbie, nor I can figure out what happened to this sweet, caring youngster," Kresin said at the time. "In just over 12 years, he’s gone from telling me ‘Grandma, I love you,’ to ‘Go to hell.' It just breaks my heart."

Eminem recently became a grandparent himself in March of 2025 when his daughter Hailie Jade gave birth to her son Elliot Marshall McClintock.
