NODAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- A plea trial has been scheduled for a 20-year-old Skidmore, Missouri, man who faces murder and armed criminal action charges.

Keevin J. Maupin has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action stemming from a homicide incident in April.

Authorities said Maupin allegedly killed two women— 32-year-old Liberty Moore and 58-year-old Karen Babcock— inside a house a few miles north of Skidmore.

Maupin has also collected charges while in the Nodaway County jail, after attempting to escape and assaulting jail staff multiple times in different ways.

According to court documents, Maupin attempted to escape the jail on May 1. While doing so, he assaulted an officer by both biting her on the arm and punching her in the head and face area multiple times.

A few days after the physical altercation, another assault charge appeared under Maupin's name. Court documents detail that Maupin threw urine on a staff member who was attempting to give him his nightly medication.

Court documents also detail that Sheriff's Deputies and Jailers are no longer allowed to make contact with Maupin alone.

Maupin, who was originally supposed to appear in court Monday, is set to appear in the Nodaway County Courthouse for his plea trial at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, after a motion for continuance was granted due to illness.
